What to Expect from a Health Plan Investigation

It can be a challenging time when your employer-sponsored health plan is undergoing an investigation, especially for small and medium sized employers with limited time, resources and/or access to professional assistance.

What you will learn

  • The intricacies of what ensues during an EBSA investigation or audit, particularly for employer-sponsored health plans.
  • A comprehensive overview of the fiduciary responsibility provisions under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and how they apply to employer-sponsored health plans.
  • Key insights into avoiding common pitfalls and challenges in managing a health plan.

About the Presenter:

Cesar Santiago boasts a commendable track record in assisting participants to comprehend their rights under ERISA and has been instrumental in the recovery of over $25 million in benefits since 2011. With prior experience at the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration, and academic qualifications from Haverford College and Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, Mr. Santiago brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

The mission of the EBSA is to safeguard the interests of participants and their beneficiaries in employee benefit plans. In line with this, Mr. Santiago's talk aims to shed light on the processes, expectations, and best practices, ensuring you are well-equipped to meet the challenges head-on.
