The Kentucky Derby is unlike any other sporting event! With a crowd of more than 150,000 people, unparalleled history and tradition, and unique spectacle, the Kentucky Derby has been described as one of the "Greatest Bucket-list Sporting Events" in America. Every year, on the first Saturday in May, thousands gather under the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs to create lifelong memories with their friends and family.

 

We can’t all go to the Kentucky Derby, so DAHU is bringing the Kentucky Derby to you in Wylie, Texas!

 

In the past, DAHU has hosted golf tournaments, casino nights, and other fun events for our members to raise money for a local charity.  This year, we want to meet your family, friends, and neighbors. The Texas Therapeutic Riding students will provide  a demonstration of rider and horse and explain how horses heal the children and adults that benefit from their program.

 

Bring your significant other, children, grandchildren, cousins, and the neighbors for a fun afternoon of activities.  Everyone is welcome, and we are excited to meet the people in your lives that support you. There is something for everyone!

 

It may not be at Churchill Downs in Kentucky;  it's better! The Honor Equestrian Center in Wylie, Texas backs up to open fields and Lake Ray Hubbard. Watch the Derby races on a big screen inside a covered horse arena. Listen to the sounds of the fantastic River Stone Band that will keep you dancing. Feast on the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang's world-famous barbeque, banana pudding, and apple pie.  Wet your whistle with Texas tea, beer, wine and Kentucky Whiskey (cash donations, please).  Let the kids play cornhole, toss or paint horseshoes, meet the horses, and just be outdoors.  Capture the memories with a professional digital photo package featuring the beautiful TxTRC horse and your family. Bid on auction items and compete in the best-hat contest. Keep the good times rolling until Post Time!

 

Dress comfortably for this event. Wear your best jeans or sear sucker suit, put on your boots or sneakers, and for the fashion flair of the Kentucky Derby, ladies, wear your best Kentucky Derby hats.

We invite all to experience the joy of raising money for a local nonprofit that enables children suffering from cerebral palsy, Downs syndrome, and other disabilities, Veterans who have lost limbs or hope, and their family who struggle alongside to experience the healing power only horses can deliver.  All proceeds go to the TxTRC.
